Gibbs Bridge

Haunted Bridges

Tower Bridge/Dead Mans Hole

Constructed 1894 | London Dead Man’s Hole actually refers to a mortuary that at one time was housed beneath the north tower of the bridge.

As you’ll probably be aware, the Thames is tidal, and for one reason or another, corpses that found their way in to the river; either suicide, by accident or dumped, those executed at the Tower of London, only a stone’s throw away, were also transferred to Dead Man’s Hole.

Resurrectionists/Body Snatchers

King James IV of Scotland

King James IV of Scotland is noted to be the reason for Resurrectionists (Body Snatchers)

In the 1500s, it was noted that doctors paid for fresh bodies to study. Makes you wonder how Leonardo Da Vinci was able to create all his anatomy drawings in the late 1400’s, drawings that were later enhanced to use professionally in medical schools today.
